What makes something moral? That is a thought that has been troubling me lately. I hate how people on the pulpit and the media like to say that they know what is right and what is wrong. They think of themselves as better as the average person because they get to be on TV or have a lot of money. I know that I certainly simplifying this issue, but this is just what I have been observing.
And they think they know what is moral and what is immoral. There are some obvious immoral things like murder, rape, necrophilia, etc. But why is it that certain types of music is immoral? Why is homosexuality immoral? Why are video games immoral? Why is porn immoral? Why is pleasure immoral? Why is believing in other gods immoral? Why is getting drunk immoral? And why the fuck is it immoral to teach evolution in the United States (I suppose the Earth is in the center of the universe too?)
Despite what you were told by your Christian leaders, Jesus and God never wrote anything in the bible; it was all written by mortal hands. These men could have been making shit up the whole time, bending the words to benefit themselves, thus beginning the proud tradition of Christians to use the bible to their advantage and cause worldwide slaughter to all "heritics" "pagans" "heathens" and "savages" all in the name of the cross.
Now to the politicians, I find it quite laughable that most politicians consider themselves moral citizens, especially in a democracy/republic. Say what you will about dictatorships and Empires, but at least they get shit done. In a democracy it's all about deception to first get elected and then remain elected. And it pisses me off royally that bat-shit insane people get elected in congress or the Senate. Why are we Americans letting religious crackpot fucktards get elected in this country. Oh right it is because we buy into bullshit. They smile that shit eating knowing how they just suckered the voters with lies and bullshit.
Frequently they will make scapegoats about what is "corrupting the youth" (yes because a fifty year old man is in it with the kids these days.) It gets even worse when government wives get involved. For example, as all you metalheads know, in the Eighties there was this woman named Tipper Gore and she thought that the root cause of moral decay in the youth at the time was raunchy music. So like any other political housewife with nothing else to do, she set up a little group PMRC, which was a basically a group of woman who had political husbands. They then tried to prevent the sale of certain types of music because the imagery and lyrics would cause children to grow up to be not christian, thieves and deviants. They wanted regulations on what the covers should look like (god forbid a kid see a naked woman, his entire moral fiber would be left in ruin and he would take herion and go on a mass raping spree). Needless to say they won and that is why we have that little sticker saying "Parental Advisory", but in sweet irony this would do nothing and in fact, sales would increase due to sales.
Here is a earlier example, in the fifties politicians thought that comic books were destroying the youth. Yes in the age of rampant racism and xenophobia, it was comic books that were really corrupting the youth. You see there was this psychologist, who went around prisons and asked juvenile inmates what did they read and they responded that they read comic books. He had his heart in the right place and probably did care about the well being of the youth, but he made the mistake that only comic books were the true cause of crime. This all culminated with the Comics Code Authority which got rid of anything grisly (which would spell the end of the Tales of the Crypt Series for quite awhile I think) and brought upon the silver age of comics which lasted from the fifties till the late seventies.
One last example and I'm going to call it a day, it regards to video games. Ever since Columbine and the whole GTA hot coffee scandal, there has been an uproar against video games because moral wingbats like to think that children are either a) stupid b) dumb and c) easily impressionable. It should insult parents when they hear on the news how their children cannot distinguish between fantasy and reality. You want to know the real reason why those teens committed that school shooting? It's not because they played Doom and listened to Marilyn Manson, if that was the case then why has not every kid who ever played Doom gone out with a shotgun and go on a slaughtering spree, because that's not how rational people think! Those kids were clearly bugfuck insane and disturbed, sure playing violent video games may not of helped, but that doesn't mean it was clearly the cause of them killing all those people.
